Chateauneuf du pape La Barroche Signature vertical tasting: 2006 and 2007

I had the chance to have a dinner at Escargot Bistro on March 26,2010 with Razvan Exarhu , chef Stefan and Calin from Le Manoir. Tasted the 2006 and 2007 CNP La Barroche Signature, Feteasca Neagra Basilescu and a nice Pouilly-Fumé.

2006 shows a mix of red fruits, particularly red cherries, raspberries with some sweetness and a hint of earth. Good concentration of the fruit, the 15% alc is nicely contained, medium aftertaste.Very good wine.

2007 is just excellent. The nose doesn’t reveal too much, is quite tight, however the taste is just amazing: red and black cherry syrup, ripe fruit mingled with minerals and licorice makes up the taste, this is a full body wine. The aftertaste lasts for 40s plus. The 2007 is just an amazing wine. It shows tremedous balance for such a young wine and the 15% alc is perfectly balanced.
